As the story goes, following Led Zeppelin’s well-received one-show reunion at London’s 02 Arena in 2007 Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones were ready to bring the show on the road. Robert Plant demurred leading his former band mates to search out another lead singer, though they wisely never went through with the Plant-less Zeppelin. In a feature on Plant that aired last night on the Australian version of 60 Minutes, Plant tells reporter Tara Brown that not only should the blame for the lack of a Zeppelin tour not be laid at his feet, but that he has “nothing to do in 2014,” inferring that he’d be open to another reunion next year.
In explaining his side of the story of Brown, Plant said, “[Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones] are Capricorns. They keep shtum. They don’t say a word. They’re quite contained in their own worlds and they leave it to me.” When Brown says Plant is the bad guy for not reuniting the band, he turns it around on Page and JPJ, “You need to see the Capricorns because I’ve got nothing to do in 2014.” This is a much different response than the one Robert generally gave at a press gathering for the recently released Celebration Day, when he said “If we’re capable of doing something, in our own time, that will be what will happen” after chiding a reporter.
Now that Jimmy Page doesn’t have the “Robert isn’t interested” response to fall back on when asked about a possible Led Zeppelin reunion, we’re can’t wait to see how he responds to future queries.

No disrespect to the Zepp my fave band of all time but can they really still pull off a tour?? I mean the stones who I love did not sound all that well recently and I saw Zepp in Boston in oh man I forget the year and they were not that good. Again I mean no disrespect but by the time 2014 rolls around well you know. I do hope they do a 3 night stand in Lake Placid though hahaha
1. You can’t judge a band on a one night show. I saw Led Zeppelin in 1977 (a cursed tour) and they were the legends I thought they would be. E dry band has some bad nights.
2. I saw Plant/Page for both tours and they really kicked ass.
3. Have you not seen Zeppelin’s CELLEBRATION DAY DVD from the O2 concert. Rave reviews from critics, fans, band members. 20 million people trying to get tickets for a one night show? They only practiced 6 weeks and they were tighter than about any band out there. The whole concert is on Youtube and everyone I know that saw it loved it.
4. They are only in there 60s. No one would question Bb King and many thought Tina Turner was a has been. Zeppelin is better at their worst than most bands at their best.
5. The Stones have played and toured admirably, but they were never that Tight and I think they are tired. If enthusiastic enough, Zeppelin could do a great tour. If not, they REALLY SHOULD do a stadium show in the US, just out of gratitude.
I suggest the excellent location of Heinz Field. Modern, great stadium. Four blocks away from me. If U2 played there, Zep can definitely break their record!
