Furthur Eight-Night Residency @ Capitol Theatre + AC

Bob Weir and Phil Lesh have a long and storied history with The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York. Not only did the Grateful Dead play the historic venue 18 times between 1970 and 1971 alone, but both Weir and Lesh have already performed at The Cap since it reopened in September. With that in mind, it shouldn’t be a huge surprise that Bobby and Phil will bring Furthur to The Cap for eight shows this April.

Furthur will play The Capitol Theatre on April 16th, 17th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 23rd, 24th and 25th. Tickets are available at $65, $95 and $130 price point and are on sale now.

In addition, Furthur will play Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on April 27th. Tickets for that show will go on sale next week.

    1. Totally agree; the ticket prices are a friggin joke. I’d love to see this show, but that’s just too rich for my blood.

  1. I was just at the cap and you can hear and see EVERYTHING from any place in the venue. What the f are they thinking 130 bucks 65 is too much to hear guys who can hardly play fuck 130 bucks tats just stupid and i love these guys but come on! Peaple bash phish or trey but just saw trey for under 40 bucks. greedy bastards.

  2. I really get both sides of the ticket price debate. There aren’t many bands who can fill that place for eight nights and in past April runs The Cap and Best Buy hosted Furthur, so my guess (and this is just a guess) is that The Cap had to pay a ridiculous amount to Furthur to win the residency. That cost gets passed on to fans. At the same time, four of the eight shows have sold out not even five hours after they went on sale and ALL of the $130 tickets are gone.

It’s not like Bobby and Phil are always looking to gouge their fans. Bobby streams free shows all the time via TRI Studios and Phil generally shares free SBDs of all P&F shows and fought with Bobby to keep Grateful Dead recordings on the archive.

IMO, if tix were $60 they would’ve sold out immediately and the secondary market would’ve been $130 a ticket anyways. At least Phil and Bob get the money and not scalpers. Still…too rich for my blood.
