Bonnaroo 365 Unveils Questlove / D’Angelo SuperJam Footage

One of the many memorable moments that took place at last year’s Bonnaroo was the event’s SuperJam which featured D’Angelo performing on an American stage for the first time in 12 years. The Roots drummer Questlove, participating in his third Bonnaroo SuperJam, put the ensemble which backed D’Angelo together. Today, the first episode of a concert film/mini-documentary about the 2012 SuperJam has been posted on the Bonnaroo365 YouTube channel.

The mini-doc follows Questlove as he leaves New York City on a Friday night after a Late Night with Jimmy Fallon taping and heads for Tennessee. Questo explains the process that went into preparing for the SuperJam and the previous Bonnaroo SuperJams he took part in. This first installment concludes with D’Angelo, Questlove, Frankie Knuckles, Kirk Douglas, Pino Palladino, James Poyser, Eric Leeds, Jesse Johnson and Kendra Foster performing My Summertime Thang – a song Prince wrote and produced for Morris Day and The Time’s Pandemonium album. Let’s take a look…

Look for the next episode of the SuperJam ’13 mini-doc on Wednesday, April 3rd.
