UPDATE 1:30PM ET 5/18: Unfortunately MTV has revised the webcast schedule and many acts we were very much looking forward to have been removed. We’ve updated the schedule below. [Hat Tip – Ira Morris]
The Hangout Music Fest kicked off last night in Gulf Shores, AL and we thought we’d only get to hear second hand reports since no webcast had been announced. That changed this morning when MTV revealed they would be offering two feeds live from the fest featuring many of most anticipated performances. In addition, MTV Networks will provide television updates and highlights across MTV, VH1, CMT, MTV2, MTV Hits, MTV Jams, VH1 Classic, CMT Pure and Palladia.
The webcast begins at 12:30 ET this afternoon and will run through Sunday night. HT faves The Breeders, Toots And The Maytals, Jim James, Passion Pit, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, Gov’t Mule, The Roots, The Black Crowes, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, The Trey Anastasio Band and Stevie Wonder will be among the acts broadcast. You can watch the broadcast HERE.

Oh, so I guess MTV is getting back into the music industry.
what a terrible tease to post huge schedules, only to hack them in half at the last minute. i was happy with the stream quality and UI yesterday, but now its pretty pointless…
ughhh. All I care about catching now are really Galactic moe. Just watched the Nicki Bluhm set and that was pretty good…
That’s one of the bigger bummers – the quality has been great!
Scotty, do you know why Trey was yanked from the live stream?
No sir
What a terrible way to do business… MTV is the worst!!!! What a tease, youtube does a much better job. I knew MTV couldnt possibly get anything right!
…SOME BANDS,.. just “Don’t Get It’,…If you wanna stay out, in the “public eye”,.. you gotta make yourself available,….. @ least Gov’t Mule ..”Gets It”,… they have “Raised The Bar” ,..once again,…wanted to see the Black Crowes & Tom Petty ,..But,.. I guess they’re too concerned about the “business” to share the stream…..too bad,… music is for the people,… it’s as right as rain… Socko…from Atlanta………..
Who cares bout Bloc Party? Come on man!! Give us some TAB!!
what a joke. the only bands i wanted to see are pulled. Yay, MTV…good job. No wonder you’ve not been musically relevant since 1992
They just showed Trey’s set out of nowhere on the website. how weird!
