Widespread Panic Sponsor Home & Offer Advance Album Track

Widespread Panic has joined the effort to rebuild post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans by sponsoring a house in the Lower 9th Ward of the city through the Make It Right foundation’s The Pink Project.  Spearheaded by Brad Pitt, the organization is helping to create a safe and healthy neighborhood in New Orleans 9th, with an emphasis on superior quality and design and that captures the culture and spirit of the residents and their community.

Since January 10th, Widespread Panic began offering an advance download of their track,Walk on the Flood for a $10 donation to Make It Right.  The track is from their forthcoming 10th studio album, Free Somehow, to be released on the bands own Widespread Records on February 12th, 2008.

The mission of Make It Right is to be a catalyst for redevelopment in the Lower 9th Ward inspired by Cradle to Cradle thinking. The Cradle To Cradle concept takes into account the lifecycle of all the components and materials used in products, and not just the lifecycle of the products themselves. By sponsoring a house, Widespread Panic is helping Make It Right reach its initial goal of building 150 homes. Other sponsors include The Home Depot, Getty Images and Neighbor Works America.
