Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Playin’ Dead Part 4

Since we’ve covered the Pigpen days, the Keith days and the Vince days during our week long look at videos from the Grateful Dead, we thought we’d give some love to the Brent Mydland era. Let’s set the way back machine for New Year’s Eve 1982 at the Oakland Coliseum Arena, where the Dead ended the year with a little help from their friends.

Legendary vocalist Etta James and the Tower of Power Horn Section joined the band for a raucous version of Hard to Handle. You can tell everyone on the stage is having the time of their lives on this seemingly pro-shot clip, which has just surfaced on YouTube:
