God Street Wednesday: Vintage Wine

There aren’t too many God Street Wine videos on YouTube and the majority of ’em are from the mid ’90s. Yet we did come across one terrific clip from the band’s early days. One cover the band loved playing back then was Hendrix’s Hey Joe. Here’s a YouTube of the boys rocking out Hey Joe at the legendary Wetlands Preserve on July 11, 1991, uploaded by Michael Weiss…

As of now there aren’t any 1991 GSW recordings on the Live Music Archive, but there’s one from 1990. George Loehwing made a terrific audience tape of the band’s performance at The Nightingale Bar on December 21, 1990. This show starts off with the white-boy reggae tones of When She Goes before the boys delivered a jammed out Fortress of Solitude that jams into Dirty Little Secret. Other highlights from this must-download show include covers of Ticket to Ride and Thrill Is Gone, as well as a 12 minute plus Imogene and Doctor’s Advice sung by Tomo. Check it out.

  1. Where are all the GSW sbd’s that used to circulate on tape?? I can’t believe nobody with the dats has been uploading them. I miss GSW and we have a down right drought of live GSW in the digital age.

  2. when I google my name I still occasionally find references to old GSW discussion boards. I still throw in 99 cent everyso often. They had a good thing goin.
