Phish Summer Tour Dates: Second Leg

Red Rocks:

When Phish last played Red Rocks in 1996, a way overblown confrontation between a few wooks and officers in the town of Morrison led to a supposed ban against the band ever playing the venue again. Thirteen years and a terrible economy later, the band will finally return to the gorgeous natural amphitheater carved into the rocks.

Located in the San Francisco area, Mountain View’s Shoreline Amphitheater was designed by impressario Bill Graham to resemble the Grateful Dead’s Steal Your Face logo and includes plenty of fan-friendly features including ample room to dance in each row. The Gorge

When the Glide Magazine staff got together in 2004 to pick their favorite outdoor venues, George, WA’s The Gorge took the top spot by a long shot..

With perhaps the most dramatic physical surroundings of  any outdoor venue, The Gorge is almost a mini Grand Canyon. Nestled along the Columbia River in central Washington state, this destination is a surreal natural experience; put together with the unobstructed views, open air seating, natural stands and onsite camping. When the sun sets behind the stage over the river in the early evening with your favorite band playing, you’ll surely say to yourself –”it doesn’t get any better than this.” The now annual Sasquatch! Festival at the Gorge, gives nearby Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival a run for its eclectic offerings.

  1. Merriweather seems to have “we’ll bust out for you suckers who drove all this way” written all over it.

  2. Wow, definitely made the East Coast part hard to hit all of the shows, but I’m easily putting in for Red Rocks and maybe Gorge as well with hopes of a late summer trip out West to see some epicness.
