The B List: 10 Cool MGMT Covers

8) Jack’s Mannequin – Kids

Jack’s Mannequin cover Kids on San Francico’s Live 105. There are also a number of videos of the band playing this cover live in concert.

7) Umphrey’s McGee: Sweet Sunglasses

To help break up all the straight MGMT covers, we have included the Umphrey’s McGee mashup of The Eurythmics’ Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), Corey Hart’s Sunglasses at Night, and MGMT’s Electric Feel. While MGMT plays the smallest role of the three songs being mashed up, it’s definitely in there a couple of times. The mashup was originally played on Halloween of last year but this performance is from 3-11-2010.

3) Katy Perry – Electric Feel

I could have just embedded some audio and not this YouTube, but then you wouldn’t have had anything to look at. You’re welcome.

2) Weezer – Kids / Pokerface

Weezer covered not only MGMT, but Lady Gaga too! An official video clip from Weezer’s YouTube account.

1) Jónsi- Time To Pretend

Sigur Ros frontman Jónsi has been doing an amazing job of leveraging The Internet to build excitement for his upcoming solo tour. Poke around his official website to see all kinds of photos and videos of the preparations going into the stage show including footage from rehearsal and the vision behind the stage design. This interview with the BBC when he performed some MGMT was also quick viral hit. I’m just hoping it makes it to the stage for the tour.

  1. Lot of cool stuff here. I like the Kate M version, she kind of reminds me of Juliana Hatfield. I like Gareth Pearson too, he has a cool open tuning Kaki King type of thing going. Good work.

  2. I think this is the best thing that weezer has out out in 10 years…. 4 yrs at harvard certainly didn’t do rivers cuomo any favors
