ALBUM PREMIERE – Australian Duo Falls’ Debut Album ‘Omaha’ (Produced by Mike Mogis)

Why a musical group from Australia would name their debut album after one of America’s most conventional cities is surprising, but then again this certain Nebraska city is home to one of our country’s strongest producer/engineers.  FallsSimon Rudston-Brown and Melinda Kirwin— escaped to the album’s namesake city to record their U.S. debut Omaha, working closely with Mike Mogis (Jenny Lewis, First Aid Kit, Bright Eyes, M. Ward) who ended up producing and recording this stellar debut. With Kirwin and Rudston-Brown sharing songwriting duties and trading lead vocals, the album features string arrangements from Tony Buchen—the producer behind the band’s first EP, Hollywood, which debuted at No. 2 on the iTunes Australian singer/songwriter chart.

Following the release of Hollywood in late 2012, the duo toured with notable acts including The Lumineers and Of Monsters and Men, in addition to performing at festivals around the country including SXSW, Sundance Film Festival, The Americana Music Festival, Austin City Limits, Bumbershoot, CMJ, Loufest and most recently Bonnaroo and Firefly Festival.

Glide is premiering Falls’ Omaha below, a recording with woozy and lush compositions that provide for a majestic theatricality reminiscent of  Beach House and She & Him, while still retaining a vintage charm. Omaha is set for release October 2nd via Verve.  “We’ve spent the past 18 months on the road in America touring, and writing the songs that have become our debut album Omaha, ” says Rudston-Brown. “We are very proud of this record and are really excited that people are now going to get to hear it!
