LISTEN: Sarah Carton Drops Swerving & Seductive R&B Flair On “Homesick”

After storming onto the scene in 2020 with her spoken word and bedroom-produced debut single ‘Beaches on the Thames’, emerging British artist Sarah Carton has gone from strength to strength, landing on the radar of numerous tastemakers. Originally from Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, and now based in North London, grew up listening to the likes of Jamie-T, Kate Nash and The Streets, all influencing her path towards a unique blend of poetry and music.

Check out the stylish new single “Homesick’ from dynamic fusion pairing Carton and 49th & Main. The beat  tinted with tasty synth application as Carton drives with her lush and concise vocal musing, swerving through the track with poise. “Homesick” is a poignant alt R&B nugget, grooving with the smooth pop sounds of SZA and Jessie Reyez.

“Homesick” was written during lockdown when everyone was at different levels of comfortability with socialising. It celebrates having people around to check in on you but also taps into that feeling of social anxiety and isolation many young people were struggling with,” says Carton
