SONG PREMIERE: Trumpeter Swan Reignites Indie Guitar Rock Sheen Via “Nothing To Show”

If songwriting experiences were worth anything on the chart positions, Drew Patrizi the voice and creative mastermind of Trumpeter Swan would be rolling in the hits. Yet this founding member of the critically acclaimed Austin, Texas-based, indie rock band What Made Milwaukee Famous brings what he does best on this new project where echoes of The Strokes and The National mingle with a progressively produced effort.

On the new release Fast We Fall (out 10/28), Trumpeter Swan delivers a record where urgent, crackling energy contrasts a pervasive sense of world-weariness. Back In Austin these days, Patrizi’s return to his roots gave him both more headspace and physical space to work on music and a reconnection with the Austin music community from which his career was born. Thematically, the title Fast We Fall reflects the multiple layers of meaning stitched through the record. The fragility of relationships. The fragility of democracy.  The fragility of…everything really.  It is an album that documents the shared experience of getting older and glancing up at the rear-view mirror from time to time, trying to take stock of relationships that still mystify.

Glide is premiering the big-hearted guitar rock of “Nothing To Show,” where the sound’s of critics’ favorites (think Brooklyn/NYC early aughts bands) converge with arena rock flair. Trumpeter Swan is surely a couple of buzz moments away from breaking out- but let’s consider this rock kaleidoscope one step closer to takeoff.
