LISTEN: Buddha Trixie Drop Synth-Driven Alt Rock On “Schmoopie”

On their latest single, “Schmoopie”, SoCal indie rockers Buddha Trixie hope they can keep us all grounded through a synth-driven energetic dance party. Driven by incredibly tight drums, propulsive bass lines, and jangly guitar/synth hooks lurking around every corner, “Schmoopie” packs a lot of movement in its hyper-driven four minutes.

“We recorded shmoopie in an Airbnb in Oregon right next to a river. The place had a fireplace hot tub and swingset all at our disposal and we stayed there for 2 weeks drinking beer after beer, playing board games after tracking days. This song is about humanizing your heroes/musicians and realizing that no matter how large someone becomes they’ll always have started as an artistic kid/teen crooning for some recognition of their disjointed feelings. Staying in touch with our inner child can ground you, especially in a moment where you meet someone you look up to and you realize they’re just an ordinary person like yourself who likes video games and is just as human as a person you see on the bus every day. Oh and also we made this sick-ass synth breakdown. Had to put it somewhere. No meaning behind it — it’s just rad,” says the band.
