LISTEN: On “Tuning In,” Teen Mortgage Drops Sludgy Garage Rock/Punk Sandwich

Drawing on classic 70’s punk influences with a touch of modern melodic and tonal flair, the latest new single “Tuning In” from Washington DC’s Teen Mortgage is a classic, anti-corporation, two-minute musical blitzkrieg. Skillfully incorporating catchy hooks and sing-along choruses without losing its edge, “Tuning In” is able to tap into current pop sensibilities while staying true to its sludgy, garage rock roots.

“Tuning In” is a call for action to stop engaging with traditional TV / printed news. A small handful of corporations own most media outlets. These corporations use all media platforms to manufacture public consent. With the public’s consent, they continue to make profit without being held accountable for their crimes. They also use these platforms to further a culture war between the people in the working class. This is in order to distract them from the real problem in their lives – the American oligarchy.
We’ve been told a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down, so we are relaying this message over a motown-influenced stomper that clocks in at just under 2 minutes,” says the band.
