The Mother Hips Get Back on the Road, Treat Portland Fans to Career-spanning Rock Show (PHOTOS/RECAP)

The Mother Hips are using the time leading up to the January 27, 2023 release of their new record, When We Disappear, to hit the road and deliver live music directly to fans. It’s something co-founders Tim Bluhm and Greg Loiacono have done, and done well, over the course of their decades long career. That is, until the pandemic shut down touring. The Mother Hips even had to cancel their New Year’s celebration last year. The two songwriters used the time creatively, leading to 2021’s Hips album Glowing Lantern. Loiacono also recently released his 3rd full-length album, Giving It All Away.

On Friday, November 4th, the Mother Hips played the first of two shows at Portland, Oregon’s Mississippi Studios. Bluhm and Loiacono, along with John Hofer (drums), Brian Rashap (bass), and Scheila Gonzalez (keys, saxophone), got down to business and ripped though songs pulled from their expansive and ever-growing catalog. Fans were enthralled, and obviously happy to see The Mother Hips back in their natural habitat.

2022 Oregon Music Hall of Fame inductee Lewi Longmire opened the night with a set of rock n’ roll, accompanied by his band, the Left Coast Roasters.

The Mother Hips will be playing shows out west though the remainder of the year, including a 3-night run at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall in mid-December.
