Phish Worcester Setlist and The Skinny: Night Two

After a solid start to Phish Summer Tour 2012 on Thursday night that featured a stellar second set, the quartet returned to the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass. tonight. This marked the group’s 14th performance at the venue known to many as The Centrum.

After beginning the show with only the second Free opener ever, the first set was filled with heavy rotation favorites such as Theme From The Bottom, Julius and Bathtub Gin. In fact, every tune performed in the opening stanza had been played during the MSG Run. A highlight came halfway through, when the band stretched out the recently broken up Ween’s Roses Are Free, making for the first jammed out Roses in over 12 years.

Phish – Roses Are Free

For set two, Phish came out of the gates with a Down With Disease that dipped its toes into a funky jam space before giving way to Sand. An interesting segue into Nellie Cane followed leading into the first-ever Mike’s > Makisupa > Weekapaug pairing. The set ended with three repertoire staples in Wading In The Velvet Sea, 2001 and Character Zero. For the encore, Phish treated fans to the old school Oh Kee Pa > Suzy pairing. Oh Kee Pa and Makisupa were the only songs played tonight that weren’t performed at MSG. The tour continues on Sunday night when Phish closes Bonnaroo.

  1. why does it matter if stuff was played at MSG? That was a 4 night run 6 months ago… of course they were going to repeat some material between MSG and Worcester. I know what you’re getting at, but still, its 6 months ago.

  2. I don’t think it’s a critique as much as just nerding out with numbers and dates and info. It’s why The Skinny is so popular–Phish people like number crunching.

  3. All the set lists got it wrong. In Makisupa trey said “woke up in the morning felt like I had the measles. So I laid back down, and rolled the sour diesel”.

  4. I def find it intersesting that ONLY 2 songs from his show were not played at msg and everything else was. With that said they were certainly played much better this go around especially that roses. So happy to see them jamming it out again even if they only do it this one time!

  5. Number crunching. MSG or no MSG. My life is always happier when Phish plays. Can’t wait to see them in Oklahoma. Great venue.

  6. How has every review /setlist ignored the HUGE Guy Forget teases both nights?? Not sure if these people were at show… or just suck at the Ph.
