Since the passing of Foo Fighters’ drummer Taylor Hawkins, the Rock world has been in mourning. Many bands like The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, and Pearl Jam have all done their part in honoring Hawkins, who died at the age of 50 earlier this year. Over the weekend the Italian supergroup, Rockin’1000 did their part with a massive rendition of the Foo Fighters’ classic “My Hero”.
Rockin’1000 was formed back in July 2015 in the town of Cesena, Italy. The band put together an explosive performance of “Learn To Fly” by Foo Fighters with a big goal in mind. They played their hearts out in hopes of the legendary rockers catching wind as a way to convince the band to come perform live in their town. Their plan was flawless, Dave Grohl and company performed in Cesena that same year.
The viral band has been playing shows and covering Rock classics ever since. This weekend they took the stage for their first performance in over three years at the Stade de France in Paris. Their setlist was expansive and included covers of Pink Floyd, The Who, and The White Stripes, just to name a few. The highlight being their tribute to the band that brought them together. They uploaded this cover to Youtube with the caption “One thousand musicians dedicating this song to one drummer.”
