Catalpa NYC

Catalpa NYC is taking Randall’s Island captive this July with performances from artists ranging from The Black Keys, Snoop Dogg, and Girl Talk, to Matisyahu and Umphrey’s Mcgee. The tri-state area is notorious for being a Bermuda triangle of sorts when it comes to music festivals as festivals in New York tend to disappear (All Points West anyone?). With this in mind, Glide caught up with the festivals promoter, Dave Foran, to discuss how the festival came to be, what he aims to accomplish, and how he hopes it will look in 2013.

Dropkick Murphys: Tsongas Center at Umass Lowell, Lowell, MA 3/17/12

No group is more responsible for the creation and popularization of Celtic punk than the Dropkick Murphys (no, not even Flogging Molly). To say Saint Patrick’s Day is a big date on their tour calendar is an understatement. St. Patty’s Day is to the Dropkicks what Halloween and New Years Eve are combined for most jambands.

Bjork – Biophilia Tour

Trust Me, I

It is a little disturbing how many people with very serious problems wrote to the former (and future) Black Sabbath front-man regarding serious medical problems, and while he was always willing to put his two cents in, Ozzy told every single one of them to visit a real doctor. Trust Me, I’m Dr. Ozzy isn’t going to change the way you live day to day, but it will provide you with plenty of entertaining anecdotes that just may prove to be applicable to your life.

Donald Glover: Attack of the Childish Gambino

His writing for The Daily Show and 30 Rock got the attention of NBC who cast him on Community alongside Chevy Chase and E! Entertainment’s Joel McHale. But I’m interviewing him before a sold out show at Boston’s House of Blues where he’ll be performing as Childish Gambino, a hip hop persona many have compared to both Kanye and Drake.

Tinted Windows – Round Table With James Iha, Taylor Hanson & Adam Schlesinger

When you throw the term super group around, the tendency is to dwell on the star studded lineup that earned the group its “super” status, and Tinted Windows is no exception. The power pop quartet has been riding high upon the heels of their self-titled freshman debut, but on the surface, the group’s lineup makes for a much better story than the album.

TV On The Radio: Wibur Theatre, Boston, MA 10/13/08

TV On The Radio are a getting bigger and better with everything they do and their set at Boston’s Wilbur Theatre was a perfect example. 2006’s Return to Cookie Mountain put them on the map in a very big way, earning them bragging rights of Album of the Year at Spin. Their recent follow up, Dear Science, has yet to garner the blogospheric buzz of Cookie Mountain, but it supersedes the previous studio effort in both artistic development, and consistence in overall quality.

Rilo Kiley: Avalon Ballroom, Boston, MA 9/21/07

Rilo Kiley came through Boston’s Avalon Ballroom, hoping to give fans a taste of their A game, but wound up delivering a performance that was less than stellar. A lot has changed since Rilo Kiley performed in Beantown last, and the changes within the groups dynamic were evident from the start.

Tom Morello – One Man Revolution (INTERVIEW)

Over the course of the last year, the metamorphosis undergone by Tom Morello has proven to be nothing short of historically significant. Upon the heels of a headlining performance at Coachella, the once-disbanded Rage Against The Machine has seemed to be gradually making their radical presence known on the concert circuit once again.
