Stormy Mondays: Acoustic Mix Vol. VII

That favorite holiday weekend is coming up, so sit back and celebrate with Volume VII in the Stormy Mondays Acoustic Mix series. Far and beyond the jammiest version to date, this one opens with Mike Gordon and Trey Anastasio giving a different and fun reading of Wilson, followed by Warren Haynes delivering a wicked cover of Madman Across the Water from 2002. From just a year later is WSP’s John Bell and John Keane doing Radio Child.

The centerpiece is an ’80s acoustic performance from Phish where they cover Dylan’s Hurricane. Kevin Shapiro first played this on From the Archives back at the Great Went and I’m always happy whenever it pops up. Moving into the home stretch, moe. released this nice studio version of Lazarus as a promo for Smash Hits Vol I earlier this year, their greatest hits album that featured brand new recordings of all the material presented.

And finally, with a another turn towards Phish, we finish with Page playing a beautiful version of Tiny Dancer (two Elton John tunes in a single mix!) from a workshop performance at High Sierra during the break up. Real fine music here, stuff to savor, so as always, enjoy!
