10 Years Ago Today – Lou Reed Performs Solo Album ‘Berlin’ Live For First Time (Watch “The Bed” Live)

10 years ago today (12/14/06) Lou Reed played his 1973 solo album Berlin live for the first time. A series of “theatrically realized” performances tell the story of a drug-addicted couple. The four-day engagement runs at New York’s St. Ann’s Warehouse and is later released as a concert film and album in 2008. After the original album was a critical and commercial flop. Individual songs had been played, but not the whole thing. The concert film and album both feature three non-Berlin songs as an encore, “Candy Says”, “Rock Minuet” and “Sweet Jane”.
