Thievery Corporation’s Rob Garza Plans Solo Debut

Rob Garza, half of electronic duo Thievery Corporation, is slated to release his first solo album on Nov. 6 under the Dust Galaxy moniker.

The eponymous effort is said to meld "the sounds of psychedelic India, British paisley beats, post-punk and roots rock." Additionally, the album features live instrumentation for the first time in Garza’s career, provided in part by collaborators that include Shawn Lee, Martin Duffy and Darrin Mooney of Primal Scream, James Canty of Ted Leo/Pharmacists and Jerry Busher of Fugazi.

"My goal was to make a record that reflected my tastes," says Garza. "This project finally allows me to step out from behind the control booth to continue expressing myself as a songwriter as well as a performer and musician."
