Thurston Moore Solo Project & Mini Tour

Thurston Moore has announced dates for a brief tour in support of Trees Outside The Academy, his first solo outing since 1995’s Psychic Hearts.
The tour kicks off September 24 at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, N.J., and consists of a week of dates on the East Coast and a week of dates on the West Coast.
Scheduled stops include the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, N.Y. (September 26), the Rock and Roll Hotel in Washington, D.C. (September 29), Neumo’s in Seattle (October 24), Humbold State University in Aracata, Calif. (October 26) and Echoplex in Los Angeles (October 30).
Christina Carter of
Charalambides will accompany Moore on the East Coast leg of the tour, while West Coast opening duties will be handled by Scores, which features Carter and Heather Leigh Murray.
Academy, due for release September 18, was recorded in the home studio of
Dinosaur Jr.‘s J. Mascis. Besides guest appearances by Mascis, the 12-song album also features contributions by Carter, Andrew MacGregor, John Moloney and Leslie Keffer.
One of the more interesting tracks on the disc is "Thurston @ 13," which is described as "some weird cassette tape that Thurston found at his mom’s of him at 13 years old in the early ’70s making some kind of sound-theatre."
