If Kim Deal was simply known as a member of the Pixies, she probably wouldn’t have much too complain about, as the band cemented themselves as more of the more influential alt.rock of the last thirty years. But it’s Kim’s “other” band, The Breeders, that actually brought her mainstream success, thanks to their 1993 release Last Splash, which sold over a million copies and included the breakout single Cannonball. The band’s classic line-up of Kim & Kelley Deal, Jim McPherson and Josephine Wiggs have announced that they will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the LP with a lengthy world tour, and by releasing a special deluxe edition of the record, which will hit stores this April. The Breeders will kick off their 20th anniversary celebration of Last Splash at Mr. Smalls Theater on May 3, but prior to all that will play a warm-up gig at The Bell House in Brooklyn on March 29.
