Ruby Pins is the side project of drummer Lillian Marling from San Fran indie outfit Grass Widow. That sentence right there essentially represents the entire extent of my combined knowledge of both bands, but Ruby Pins is worth checking out for its sinister surf-punk sound.
There’s some cool psychedelic video work in the clip for the Ruby Pins track Chameleon. The album as a whole has a a very raw and propulsive feel with a guitar sound reminiscent of Sterling Morrison on White Light/White Heat. Take a look at the Chameleon video to get a feel for this band…
