Genre-hopping L.A. duo Sparks have unveiled their new box set, Sparks: New Music For Amnesiacs, The Ultimate Collection, out October 22nd on Lil Beethoven.
The eclectic brothers (Ron and Russell Mael) have remained obscure critical darlings over their four-decade career, exploring genres like disco, art-rock, glam, and new-wave. This new box set, curated by the brothers, serves as an introductory guide to the band’s sprawling body of work. The 81-track four-CD set is also packaged with a hardbound coffee table book, an assortment of souvenirs, and a two-track bonus disc.
The book features photographs and memorabilia from the band’s personal archives; according to a press release, it “tells their story from the late ’60s to the Urban Renewal Project and their relatively brief time as Halfnelson, through the subsequent 40 years as Sparks.” The box is available for pre-order.
