Grateful Dead Reveal Earthy New Beer

1971 Grateful Dead

Fret not, Grateful Dead-loving booze-hounds: The jam-band’s new signature beer is also kinda nutritious.

As Ultimate Classic Rock reports, the Dead have teamed with Dogfish Head Craft Brewery to create their own “bold pale ale” called American Beauty. It features “100 percent U.S.-grown ingredients,” including granola.

The two parties enlisted fan advice, soliciting over 1,500 suggestions for ingredients. The winner was home brewer Thomas Butler. Speaking with Brewhound, he said, “The components of granola — honey, toasted grains, oats — offer a lot from a beer perspective.”

The beer will be available to purchase in 27 states within the next few weeks.
