Sufjan Stevens Unearths Lo-Fi ‘Take Me’ Demo

Sufjan Stevens

Sufjan Stevens is on a roll this week: First, he penned a hilarious, grammar-centric open letter to pop star Miley Cyrus; now he’s shared a lo-fi demo of an unreleased song called “Take Me” on his Tumblr.

It’s a glitchy electro-pop beauty built on dreamy synthesizers and Stevens’ angelic falsetto. “Sloppy lo-fi demo I found on an old hard drive,” he writes of the track. “It don’t go nowhere so don’t expect nothing. Love don’t go nowhere so don’t expect nothing. Quadruple negative, yo. Stay Positive.”

Check out a stream below.

Stevens’ last album was his 2012 double-LP Christmas extravaganza, Silver & Gold: Songs for Christmas, Vols. 6-10.
