By this point, Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival is basically an institution. The fourth incarnation of the event (held last spring in New York City) is documented on the new Crossroads Guitar Festival 2013 set, which is available now on DVD, Blu-Ray, and CD formats. In addition to Clapton himself, the release features performances from legends like The Allman Brothers Band, Keith Richards, Jeff Beck, John Mayer, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, and Gary Clark Jr, among many others.

We’re giving away a two-disc Blu-Ray copy — to win, tell us what up-and-coming guitar whiz should be added to the next Crossroads Festival. Who’s the “next Clapton”? (To boost your case, please provide some proof — in audio or visual form — and tell us why he or she is such an incredible guitar player.)

The deadline for the giveaway is next Friday, December 13th, at 5:00 p.m. EST. NOTE: The set can only be shipped to an address in North America.

The tracklist is below. Check out more details at Amazon.

  1. Tallest Man on Earth would be a worthy contribution to the festival. He headlined Outside Lands alongside Gary Clark Jr., He isn’t a lead guitarist but he makes some interesting music with his guitar as he was classically trained.

Guitarists like to bash on people who use capos sometimes in my experience, but its suitable to his style and definitely not a cop-out. It’d be like getting a modern early, albeit less political, Bob Dylan.

  2. Are these contests fake? The winners are never announced (examples: the recent Van Morrison cover song and the recent Eric Clapton guitar solo contests). Are the Hidden Track editors acquiring new releases from record labels under the guise of a promotional giveaway, only to keep the goods for themselves? One must assume so, given this complete lack of transparency.

  3. Ryan, the editor, here.

The contest winners are contacted individually. They send me their addresses, which are forwarded to the publicists, who send the stuff.

  4. I highly recommend that you identify the winning entries, so that people know the contests are legit, not to mention the fun factor for the entrants in learning the winner of a competition they entered.

  5. Luther Dickinson. Hardly up-and-coming in my opinion, he is one of the best out there period. He’s an incredible musician and does the best modern interpretation of the blues with references to delta, hill country, slide, etc. Never miss a chance to see the North Mississippi Allstars live. He makes my jaw drop with what he does with his cigar box, tin can, acoustic, and electric guitars!

  6. Thanks for entering, everybody!

It was a really close call between Chris and Roy, but I’ve decided to go with Chris. Those Luther Dickinson clips definitely sold me.

I’ll be contacting you through e-mail in just a sec, Chris.
