Spoon has finally revealed details of its next studio album, which is the follow-up to 2010′s Transference. The bands eighth full length is titled They Want My Soul and will be released on August 5th through their new record label, Loma Vista.
They Want My Soul marks the band’s first album featuring an outside producer, as the Austin band worked with. Joe Chiccarelli (My Morning Jacket, Beck, The Strokes) and Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev)/
Spoon’s Britt Daniel and Jim Eno recently appeared on NPR’s All Songs Considered to preview the album. Among the song titles, “Knock Knock Knock” and “New York Kiss”, plus the band covers “I Just Don’t Understand”, a 1961 song made famous by Ann-Margaret and later covered by The Beatles.
