The Infamous Stringdusters: The Infamous Stringdusters

[rating=4.00]

With their debut album Fork in the Road, The Infamous Stringdusters had one of the most anticipated bluegrass releases of 2007.  The album lived up to the hype by winning three International Bluegrass Music Awards for Emerging Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year.  Most bands would take their time to release another album and bask in their new found glory but not The Stringdusters.  They went back into Nashville’s famed Hillbilly Central Studio and hired bluegrass icon, Tim Obrien, to record their sophomore release The Infamous Stringdusters.

 Through this album they take their music to levels that seem musically and lyrically unreachable for most bands.  They weave through each track with intricate harmonies and virtuosity on their instruments while never losing site of their strong song writing capabilities.  With the opening number, Won’t Be Coming Back, the band delivers insatiable melodies that will immediately force you to start tapping your foot with the music.  The strongest tracks on this release are the songs written by bassist, Travis Book, such as “Bound For Tennessee” which delivers one of the most captivating hooks to date by the band.  Instrumental numbers “Golden Ticket” and “Black Rock” display the accomplished fret work of guitarist Andy Falco and mandolinist Jesse Cobb showcasing why the Stringdusters are one the most talented bluegrass band in the country.
