The Slip Backing Sonya Kitchell On Fall Tour

Sonya Kitchell will follow this summer’s turn as featured vocalist in Herbie Hancock‘s band with a fall tour celebrating her latest release, This Storm.
Kitchell, who will be backed on the trek by Montreal-based trio The Slip, kicks off her headlining run September 24 at Higher Ground in Burlington, Vt., Colony Café in Woodstock, N.Y. (September 27), World Café Live in Philadelphia (October 3), The Music Mill in Indianapolis (October 8), Varsity Theatre in Minneapolis (October 12), Tractor Tavern in Seattle (October 21), The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, Calif. (October 26) and 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville, Tenn. (November 2).
Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.
This Storm, due September 2, finds the 19-year-old singer spreading her wings a bit lyrically.
The album, which features performances by The Slip’s Andrew and Brian Barr and production by Malcolm Burns (Bob Dylan, Daniel Lanois, Peter Gabriel), deals with serious issues – including war, loss and solitude – on tracks like "Soldier’s Lament," "Robin in the Snow" and "Walk Away."
