Rachael Yamagata is revved up. "I just have to tell you, I love you all sexually," said Yamagata to the equally charged crowd at her sold out Bowery Ballroom show.
Launching into a song she described as "about a booty call," Yamagata’s stage banter was consistently playful; a stark contract to her serious and sweeping music. In a sultry emerald green peasant dress, she passionately connected with the audience through her omnipresent tales of relationships, lust, love and breakups. As if the crowd were her inner circle of friends and her songs the tales of love gone wrong, Yamagata’s show was the evening coffee session to get it all of your chest.
Nearing the end of her three month stint on the road in support of Elephants…Teeth Sinking Into Heart, Yamagata closed the show sans band– just a guitar and her signature smoky sound, which proved to be a cathartic sing along, leaving the crowd happy yet eagerly awaiting more tales of Yamagata’s relationships gone awry.
