Merge Records Hosting 20th Anniversary Festival

Merge Records, home to bands including Arcade Fire, Superchunk, Teenage Fanclub, Conor Oberst, Spoon, Buzzcocks and Dinosaur Jr., have announced that it is putting on a five-day music festival to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

The festival is set to take place July 22-26 in the indie label’s home state of North Carolina and will feature several Merge artists. The lineup has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Merge is preparing to release a series of 20th anniversary compilation albums featuring Bright Eyes, Ryan Adams and Death Cab For Cutie covering Merge artists.

The Shins have just been added to the list of artists who will be featured on the compilations, which are being curated by the likes of David Byrne and REM‘s Peter Buck, as previously reported. Visit Mergerecords.com/score for more information.
