Netflix Announces ‘Mr. Show’ Revival (Of Sorts)

Hold the internet everyone, the rumors are true.

Bob Odenkirk and David Cross are back, collaborating on a new sketch comedy show that has just been picked up by Netflix. After fueling the fire of a rumored reunion at the end of last year, Odenkirk and Cross are officially bringing their unique brand of sketch comedy to the streaming community with 4-half an hour episodes (and a “behind the scenes” fifth episode) of With Bob and David .

The title is of course a throw back to their original Mr. Show with Bob and David which ran on HBO in the mid-90s. The sketch show featured comedians like Paul F. Tomkins, Tom Kenny, Brian Posehn, Jay Johnston, and Scott Aukerman as regular members of the cast, and rotated a vast array of now very well-known comedians like Sarah Silverman and Jack Black. Sketches featured both running, and one off jokes that were co-written by the cast, and the show was nominated for four Primetime Emmy awards.

Part of Mr. Show’s charm was the way that each sketch was linked together like one flowing piece, rather than randomly grouped together bits, similar to Monty Python bits of yore. So far it looks like the new show will feature the two renaissance men in sketches featuring “all new characters, all new scenes and most importantly, all new wigs,” according to Netflix.

Mr. Show is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year; what better way to celebrate than with a collaboration between one of the best comedic duos in Hollywood? You can catch up with Bob and David’s previous work on Amazon prime with episodes ranging from $.99-$1.99. You can also relive some of your favorite moments on YouTube.
