Trey Anastasio Covers Grateful Dead at Terrapin Crossroads (VIDEO)

On Friday night Big Red himself appeared from the ether as if summoned by the jam gods, or Phil Lesh and his son Grahame. According to JamBase, the Phish guitarist hit the stage at Lesh’s Terrapin Crossroads while a group that also included Danny Eisenberg on keyboards and Terrapin resident drummer Alex Koford were already jamming on Dead tunes. The brief “jameo” saw Anastasio taking vocals on Dead classics “Bertha” and “Goin’ Down the Road Feeling Bad.” Check out the video below:

This was Trey’s first time hitting the stage at Terrapin and while those lucky enough to be in attendance were all probably hoping for just a little bit more, the appearance gives us a taste of what we’re in for when Trey takes on the role of Jerry Garcia for the Dead’s five Fare Thee Well shows taking place this summer in Santa Clara, CA and Chicago. Not a ton of jamming out in the clip, but we’re definitely excited to see what will come out of Treyful Dead!

Speaking of the Dead, check out our column Easy Answers where we interview all types of musicians about their love for the the legendary jam band.
