Virgin Music Festival Expands To Five Canadian Cities

The Virgin Music Festival will hit five Canadian cities this summer, including Montreal, the event’s organizers announced today.

The festival, which launched in 2006, is sponsored by Virgin Mobile Canada, which was fully acquired by Canadian telecommunications giant Bell Canada today.

Event organizers didn’t disclose which cities the festival would be hitting, naming only Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta and Nova Scotia. Host locations will be announced at a later date.

Last year, the festival went ahead in Toronto and Calgary, and a planned event in Vancouver fell through when organizers were unable to secure appropriate acts.

Several acts have been confirmed for the Montreal show, which is being held on June 19 and 20, including Black Eyed Peas, Akon, Simple Plan, Hedley and New Kids on the Block.
