‘Doctor Who’ Reveals Goosebump Inducing Season 9 Trailer at Comic Con

The new season of Doctor Who is looking like it’s going to be pretty epic, if the new trailer, which debuted at San Diego Comic Con, is any indication.

It’s the second season with Peter Capaldi’s iteration of the classic character, and while not a lot has been revealed about the arc so far, it seems as though we’re in for another wild ride as The Doctor and Clara once again traverse the expanses of time and space.

“Every time I think it couldn’t get more extraordinary it surprises me,” The Doctor says, regarding the wonder of the universe. “It’s impossible, I hate it, it’s evil, it’s astonishing. I want to kiss it to death.”

We see Daleks and Missy (The Master’s newest incarnation, you’ll recall from last season). We see old friends and new, The TARDIS and alien worlds. Most intriguing, we get our first look at Game of Thrones’s Maisie Williams in a mysterious new role that’s ripe for speculation.

“What took you so long, Old Man,” she asks, with a flip of her hair, much to the bewilderment of The Doctor. Who could she be? Is she River? Maybe Susan, The Doctor’s granddaughter from the old series?

In true Comic Con fashion, the trailer is designed as an epic experience, meant to give you chills and excitement, and it does that beautifully. We’re still about two months away from the September 19 premiere date, so we’ll probably be getting more information in the coming weeks. But I, for one, can’t wait.
