Batman and Superman Face-Off in New Comic Con Trailer

Haters and naysayers are cordially invited to sit down and shut up. A new trailer for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice dropped today at Comic Con, and it looks positively mind-blowing.

We’re still about 8 months away from the Man of Steel sequel’s March 25 release date, but anticipation should skyrocket after viewing this trailer, which gives us our first real look at Bats and Supes going at it blow for blow.

The destruction of Metropolis from the first film appears to be playing heavily in this movie, with Superman under fire for the wanton devastation that racked the city. Politicians want him to be held accountable, people are divided, and the Man of Steel is under more scrutiny than he’s ever had to endure. As if that wasn’t enough to shoulder, Bruce Wayne—who’s supposedly retired his bat-mantle—has decided the alien superhero is more menace than savior, having witnessed the collapse of a Wayne Enterprises building in Metropolis.

Added to this, we get our first look at Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, in all of her Amazonian glory, as well as Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, who feels perfectly insane.

But the real star, of course, is the title fight. Ben Affleck’s Batman goes round for round with Henry Cavill’s Superman. This is a moment comic books fans have been waiting decades to see on the big screen and director Zack Snyder seems to have made sure that they’ll be getting what they want.

Of course, the internet hive mind has already been divided, with fans split over whether Dawn of Justice can do justice to these heroes sharing the screen. I expect some people will be changing their minds after watching this trailer, however. Even though I’ve been on board with this movie since its announcement, my goosebumps’s goosebumps got goosebumps watching Batman and Superman stare each other down in the closing moments of the trailer.
