It’s been football all day and it’ll be football all night following two straight evenings of live music. Friday night brought me to my first Phil & Friends show of the nine-night run at New York’s Nokia Theatre, an intensely enjoyable concert worth far less than the $70 face value of the ticket price. The venue on Saturday was Ace of Clubs for American Babies, still the best band you’ve never seen. Really, get into this shit.
But the quasi-musical highlight of the weekend came from ESPN’s College GameDay and everyone’s favorite Phish cesspool, the Phantasy Tour message board. I’ve often said the popular rock band Phish is the greatest inside joke in music history, but the inside jokes inside the joke are sometimes even better. And on Saturday we witnessed the first nationally televised Fluffhead sign in about two-and-a-half years. Ah, Internet geekdom — it’s fannnnntastic.
But now let’s look back at a sample of the week that was at Hidden Track:
- Aging Brits rock: Clapton and Winwood announce three shows at MSG
- It’s a damn good thing Dylan wasn’t there to see the I’m Not There event
- Claypool’s Electric Apricot ain’t no Spinal Tap (but it is kinda funny)
- America, fuck yeah: The two hottest bands are Britney and The Eagles?!
- Warren Haynes’ X-Mas Jam to be sponsored by Depends and Polident
- This week’s B List brings you the top 8 Rejected Album Titles
- Rhino remembers it has to recoup some money from the Dead vault
- In other Grateful Dead news, it turns out old hippies still like to get high
- Railroad Earth returns to the Fillmore Something Something at Irving Plaza
- Missed something? Check out the intensive link dumps: MON, WED, FRI
- And your iPod wants to give you a rusty trombone: Download from Grousing The Aisles, MP3 Boot Camp, Stormy Mondays and Friday Mix Tape.

PT has jumped the shart…I mean, shark. (No, for real, though, weatherman deserves an extra long kudos bar.)
Go WEatherman from Bennington, VT…for this great sign!
in fact, he’s looking for others to take this very sign to other ESPN gamedays this year. He will UPS you the sign in you do plan on attending ESPN Gameday (eghh-hemm-“Built by the Home DEpot)…hop on PT and look for WEatherman!

11/11 was the most magical night of my life….. 3 sets, 2nd set accoustic….. Cumberland Blues 3rd set was amazing, Morning Dew!!!!
you’re missing out if you think American Babies are the best band you have never heard!!!! *joke*
They weren’t sold out for all the shows, they released tickets for every show day of. I was also at the Friday night show and while the Terrapin Viola Lee was great, I have to agree not work the price to see 4 or 5 Jackie Green numbers.
That said, the Setlist for the 11th makes me jealous.
