Gimme Shelter documents the Rolling Stones’ tumultuous tour of the United States in 1969. Over the course of the film you get a behind-the-scenes look at how the infamous Altamont Festival went so horribly wrong. Directors Albert and David Maysles’ direct cinema techniques give you the feeling that you’re a fly on the wall for the beginning of the tour, the recording of Wild Horses and the Altamont disaster. There’s never a dull moment for the Rolling Stones.
