Televised Tune: On the Tube This Weekend

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss teamed up to record the incredible Raising Sand last year. Now the two legendary artists are taking the show on the road. CMT’s Crossroads series recently debuted a new episode featuring Rob and Ali performing songs from their album, a few Led Zep classics and a Union Station song. You can check out the hi-def version of Crossroads all weekend long on MTV’s HD channel, while CMT shows the standard edition.

Friday [all times Eastern]:

  • A classic AC/DC performance is featured on BBC Crown Jewels [VH-1 Classic 7:00 PM]
  • Can you believe there is already an E! True Hollywood Story about Amy Winehouse already? [E! 10:30 PM]
  • Yeasayer makes their US television debut on Late Night with Conan O’Brien [NBC 12:35 AM]

Saturday:

  • The NBA’s All-Star Saturday Night features performances by Dr. John, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and more [TNT 8:00 PM]
  • Catch a hi-def airing of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss on CMT’s Crossroads [MTV HD 9:00 PM]
  • Kanye West is the musical guest on what should be the last Saturday Night Live repeat for a few weeks [NBC 11:30 PM]

Sunday:

  • Strat Pack celebrates the 50th anniversary of Fender’s classic guitar [HDNet 12:00 PM]
  • Relive the greatest moments in the history of the Jammy Awards [HDNet 2:35 PM]
  • VH-1 Classic presents a Prince concert at his Paisley Park studios from 1998 [VH-1 Classic 11:00 PM]

  2. You guys got scooped on the Rothbury festival. I am surprised I haven’t seen any chatter. Looks promising. Phil, Gordo, YSMP w/ Fish, Bisco, MMW. Of course, it wouldn’t be a festrival without Franti. Is he playing? Why…yes, he is! It’a Madison House production, so they were contractually obligated to include Kang and Nershi’s new projects. How long before Keller and his WMD’s are announced? Any minute, I am sure. The VIP amenities are ridiculous…and pricey!

  3. I got to watch the Alison Krauss/Robert Plant concert last night and it was really, really good. Relaxed, showing their ease with each other, very entertaining, great choices of covers. Really good stuff.
