Blog Pollination: Runaway Dinosaur Marches In

The weather in March may have come in like a lion and left like a lamb, but both Hidden Track and Runaway Dinosaur kept busy all month long. So let’s kickoff April with a look back at the best of both sites. The HT staff picked their favorite RD posts, while the RD staff kindly returned the favor.

The RD staff picks the best Hidden Track posts in March :

  • We loved Hidden Track for their weekly features but they also speak their mind with a great editorial by Luke on Ticketbastard.
  • HT proves once again they have endless amounts of time for the important things like band timelines with DaveO’s seven-line-graphs.
  • Each week Scotty scours the online world for the best MP3 bootcamp and last week found all the SXSW shows with a Tom Waits 74 bootleg chaser.
  • While Scotty B traveled down to Langerado, HT’s good friend Sleepy Floyd kept us occupied with an extra super special edition of The B List: 10 bands that should be in the Hall of Fame.
  • We learned that in the 1990s, Jerry Garcia along with Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola helped fund a restoration of a film made by a Polish director set in the Spanish Inquisition about the surreal adventures of a soldier who has found an ancient manuscript during the Napoleonic Wars. The name of the film is The Saragossa Manuscript.

And here’s our favorite posts from Runaway Dinosaur:

  • When I get to work on Wednesday morning, we’re always excited to see what T-Rex has in store for Rock Art Wednesdays. Last Wednesday the column featured an interview with Craig Howell, an artist who uses digital techniques to create a new breed of rock posters.
  • Runway Dinosaur picked up the best free agent blogger in the game when JRoxx started contributing to the site with a eulogy for Martin Fierro.
  • We’re big foodies and sports fans over at HT, so we’re psyched to see Runaway Dinosaur add coverage of both. It’s also nice to see someone hates Isiah Thomas more than we do.
  • Everyone’s been raving about My Morning Jacket’s set from SXSW in Austin. T-Rex points us in the direction of NPR for a stream of MMJ’s magical performance
  • As recently as 10 years ago nearly everyone in America bought their music at a store. Now, none of my friends buy new releases from a retail establishment. Borders is attempting to lure music fans back with an interesting new business model.
