AfterNews: Coachella/Steve Martin/Bob Dylan

  • The 2008 festival season isn’t quite in the books yet, but you can start planning your ’09 thanks to the folks at Goldenvoice. The California-based promoters behind Coachella have confirmed the world-renowned festie will return to the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA from April 17 – 19. Goldenvoice also revealed that its country music fest Stagecoach will also return for a third year, but will be scaled back to two days.
  • Actor/comedian/writer and all around funny man Steve Martin has completed an album full of “serious” banjo music. According the Bluegrass Blog – the album was produced by John McCuen, with assistance from Tony Trischka and Pete Wernick and features Russ Barenberg on guitar, Matt Flinner on mandolin and Brittany Haas on fiddle, among others.

  • October 7 will see the release of the 8th installment of Robert Zimmerman’s Bootleg Series. The two-disc set, dubbed Tell Tale Signs, will focus on studio outtakes, unreleased cuts and live performances from the last twenty years of Zimmy’s storied career.
