Superfly Announces Slate of Jazzfest Gigs

Superfly Productions is proud to announce the 2009 Superfly during Jazzfest concert series. Series events will take place April 24 through May 2 at several signature New Orleans venues, including the Contemporary Arts Center (site of the earliest Superfly shows) and the Riverboat Creole Queen, among many others. Confirmed shows are listed below, with additional details to be announced soon. As usual, the festival’s 13th annual installment will present top national talent alongside some of the best acts from New Orleans’ infinitely rich music scene.  In continuation of the tradition, the series features special collaborations and unique bills.  The funky Meters will be joined by New Orleans superstar Cyril Neville for a show with Robert Randolph and the Family Band.   Galactic will perform aboard the Riverboat Creole Queen with special guests Walter ‘Wolfman’ Washington, Troy ‘Trombone Shorty’ Andrews and Big Sam.   Newcomers to the Superfly During Jazzfest Concert Series include The Black Keys and Death Cab for Cutie.

Conceived in 1997, the Superfly during Jazzfest Concert Series eventually attracted thousands of fans from all over the country, and became the foundation for the iconic Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. The popular series has presented live music fans with creative entertainment options throughout the past 12 festival seasons, and will continue to offer memorable events in the company’s birthplace for years to come. “There still isn’t any other city like New Orleans,” says Superfly’s Jonathan Mayers. “It means so much to us to celebrate there and support the incomparable music scene.”

In order to better serve the fans of this longstanding institution, Superfly has forged a multi-year partnership with StubHub, the world’s largest ticket marketplace. The partnership will allow the companies to offer fans unique VIP Fan Experience Ticket Packages to all of the shows. All shows will be a part of the StubHub Concert Series. The exclusive VIP ticket packages include special artist meet and greets, photo opportunities, VIP viewing areas, signed artist memorabilia and more. Proceeds from these package sales will benefit New Orleans charities: The New Orleans Musician’s Clinic and Common Ground Relief.

“This multi-year partnership is the continuation of a budding relationship between StubHub and Superfly Productions,” said Chuck La Vallee, Head of Music Business Development for StubHub. “We couldn’t be more pleased to be supplying fans with this special access to the StubHub Concert Series at Superfly During Jazzfest, while also raising money for New Orleans charities. We look forward to continuing to partner with Superfly on future events.”
