Back in 1996, Ken Hays of Terrapin Tapes started a festival called Deadhead Heaven in an attempt to bring all of Jerry’s kids together to enjoy a weekend of fantastic music and vibes. Thirteen years later, Gathering of the Vibes continues to bring Deadheads and jamfans from across the Northeast together for a good time. This year’s Gathering of the Vibes kicks off on July 23 and runs until the 26th at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, CT.
Last night, Hays announced this year’s lineup via a webcast…
Assembly of Dust, Bob Weir & Ratdog, Buddy Guy, Deep Banana Blackout, Donna Jean Godchaux Band, Dark Star Orchestra, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Harlem Gospel Choir, JJ Grey and Mofro, John Brown’s Body, Keller Williams (w/ with Moseley, Droll & Sipe), King For a Day, Lettuce, Levon Helm Band, Max Creek, moe., Perpetual Groove, Ryan Montbleau Band, State Radio, Strangefolk
Unlike many of the its competitors, GOTV hasn’t forsaken jambands in search of the hipster crowd. You’ll still see a number of the bands that performed at Deadhead Heaven including moe., Strangefolk, Max Creek and Reid Genauer (w/ Assembly of Dust). Advance tickets are onsale now for $160.
