The members of the NYC-Freaks mailing list throw an incredible party/concert each year called the Freaks Ball. This year’s ball didn’t turn a profit, so the members of the board have thrown in a slew of items including a pair of tickets to Phish in Jones Beach (6/4), 5 pairs of tickets to any Rocks Off Cruise in 2009, 2 pairs of tickets to Freaks Ball X, an “ultra-rare chance to be photographed with Jake’s [Szufnarowski] new back tattoo,” a pair of signed Joe Russo drum sticks, a signed Scott Metzger guitar pick, a Rodney Speed Afro Pick and many other items for a raffle to recoup their costs.
Raffle tickets cost $10 dollars each and entries can be sent via PayPal to: [email protected] or via mail, with checks made out to Rocks Off and sent to: NYC Freaks Raffle c/o Rocks Off 630 9th Ave New York, NY 10036. All entries must be received by 11:59PM on March 27th, 2009. Any profits above and beyond the Freaks Ball costs will be donated to to the North Ramparts Community Center in New Orleans.

Finally, the dynamic improvisers Medeski, Martin and Wood are set to release the second installment of their Radiolarians project in April.
