The lineup for this year’s Newport Folk Festival – which has been rebranded George Wein’s Folk Festival 50 in honor of jazz impressario and Newport Folk Festival co-founder George Wein returning to run the 50th installment of the legendary event – contains a nice mix of performers including festival co-founder Pete Seeger, The Decemberists, Arlo Guthrie, Fleet Foxes, Joan Baez, Neko Case, Billy Bragg, Campbell Brothers, The Avett Brothers, Josh Ritter, Gillian Welch, Judy Collins, Del McCoury, Iron &  Wine, Joe Pug, Tao Rodriguez Seeger, Balfa Toujours, Elvis Perkins in Dearland, Tim Eriksen & Shape Note Singers, Langhorne Slim, Ben Kweller and Low Anthem.

George Wein’s Folk Festival 50 takes place July 31 – August 2 in the historic and beautiful town of Newport, Rhode Island and tickets go on sale Wednesday, May 6 at folkfestival50.com.

  • The schedule for Awesometown: The Second Frame, which takes place in Morrisville, PA on May 8 and 9, has been posted at awesometownfest.com. Among the highlights are former P Groove keyboardist Matt McDonald’s first gig as a member of SeepeopleS at 1:30 AM on Sunday morning after Wyllys finishes his second of two sets that night. Tickets for Awesometown are available in advance for $50 before the price goes up to $65 at the gate.
  • Single day tickets for Saturday July 25 at the 10,000 Lakes Festival go on sale Friday, April 24, starting at $75 for general admission and $99 for general admission and overnight camping. Saturday’s concerts begin at noon and end at 3 AM, featuring more than a dozen performers including Dave Matthews Band, Umphrey’s McGee, Ozomatli and Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings. We like that the producers have offered fans that option, but you don’t want to miss two nights of Panic, Wilco, Gomez and over 60 other acts scheduled to perform on July 22-25 at at Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, MN.
