Dispatch From Mountain Jam: Day 2

During Coheed and Cambria, Warren sat in for a few including Dylan’s I Shall Be Released, getting a huge reaction from the crowd who demanded more and called for an encore. The amazing covers didn’t end there however, as Coheed and Cambria ripped through Traffic’s Can’t Find My Way Home and The Church’s Under the Milky Way Tonight. Gov’t Mule stepped it up with Prince’s When Doves Cry -> Beautifully Broken -> When Dove’s Cry as well more Dylan with All Along the Watchtower with Karl Denson. John Medeski also made an appearance during the first Mule set.

Again, late night brought even more to the table with multiple options including U-Melt inside the lodge and Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe outside. Unable to choose I was able to catch a bit of both these acts (and I have to admit I was wishing that I could have checked out The Pimps of Joytime and BuzzUniverse as well but the mountain had pretty much kicked my ass by that time). U-Melt tore into another of their trademark epic late night sets with an explosion of sound, lights and projections. While KDTU and their smooth horns did everything they could to keep the crowd nice and warm despite the chilly temps even blending another Warren sit in into the mix.

So far Sunday is getting off to a slow start but the promise of good music is helping to get me out of bed and back out there for day three.
