Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Free Falling

It seems sort of easy to take indie-rock Godfathers Yo La Tengo for granted when you live in and around the band’s home base of Hoboken, NJ. The husband and wife fronted trio don’t often seem like the band that easily fills large rock halls around the country, especially when you can catch them during their Hannukah run at their tiny hometown club Maxwell’s.

The band, who has been making music for 25 years, will impressively release their 13th studio album Popular Songs on their longtime label Matador on September 8. In anticipation they’ve teamed up with visual desginer John McSwain for a five-part series of videos, with a new one to be released every week leading up to the album’s release. Let’s check out the pairings first effort Here To Fall…

Yo La Tengo will head on a massive 42-date world tour beginning on September 13, and includes a high profile stop at New York’s Roseland Ballroom where they’ll share the bill with the Atlanta-based, flower-punk band the Black Lips.
