This year’s Garcia Birthday Edition of Stormy Mondays is the tail end of a widely circulated JGB late show from March of 1978 – a real classic.
We pick up the gig with Cats Under the Stars, followed by an excellent I’ll Be with Thee; Maria Muldaur was sharing vocals with Donna at this point, and the three voices make this gospel tune rock and shine. The show closes with an outrageously spacey version of Lonesome and a Long Way from Home, and the encore is the exceedingly rare Palm Sunday, a tune only played on this date and the following night.
